Stairway to Heaven – Original Large Textured Abstract Painting
Stairway to Heaven is a large, original abstract painting in rich golden, olive, bronze and deep teal-blue tones. Its expressive, heavily textured surface creates a fascinating interplay of light, colour and depth.
Unlike many of my paintings, which receive their titles after completion, this artwork was created with its title already in mind. Stairway to Heaven was the inspiration for the composition itself .
A luminous passage of turquoise and blue-green rises through the centre of the painting, surrounded by warm, earthy colours. For me, this upward movement suggests a journey towards light, hope and something beyond the visible world. The interpretation, however, remains open to the viewer.
The painting is built up through multiple layers of acrylic paint and texture paste. Raised lines, fine cracks, irregular impressions and weathered-looking surfaces create a rich relief that changes in appearance depending on the direction of the light.
Warm golden and olive tones provide a beautiful contrast to the cooler teal and turquoise shades. Darker areas add depth and mystery, while the brighter central passage brings a sense of movement and quiet optimism.
With its generous square format, Stairway to Heaven is a striking statement artwork for a contemporary living room, spacious hallway, bedroom or office. It complements modern, minimalist and sophisticated interiors, particularly those featuring natural materials and warm neutral colours.
The painting is presented in a cream-coloured floater frame, which provides an elegant contrast to the darker composition and gives the artwork a refined, gallery-ready finish.
