Angel’s Kiss is an original abstract diptych consisting of two individually painted canvases, united by a rich, deeply textured surface and a dramatic palette of dark earthy tones and shimmering gold.
Layer upon layer of structure, marks and irregular relief creates an almost archaeological quality. Lines emerge and disappear, raised areas catch the light, and traces seem embedded within the surface as though they have been uncovered rather than newly created. Deep black, umber and brown tones form the foundation, while multiple golden passages bring warmth and luminosity to the composition.
The character of Angel’s Kiss changes beautifully with the surrounding light. From one angle the paintings appear dark, mysterious and restrained; from another, the textured golden areas begin to glow and reveal details that were barely visible before.
Although each canvas has its own composition, the two belong together. Forms and textures seem to respond to one another across the space between them, creating a subtle dialogue and making the gap itself part of the artwork.
