Blue Blossom Light is an original contemporary floral painting filled with light, movement and a wonderful sense of calm.
A dark tree rises through hundreds of individually painted blossoms, spreading its branches across a softly layered background of blue and grey. White flowers dominate the composition, while delicate touches of pale and brighter blue create depth and bring a fresh, luminous quality to the painting.
I painted the blossoms one by one, allowing their different tones and subtle variations to create a natural rhythm across the surface. Some appear crisp and bright, others almost dissolve into the background. The darker branches remain partly visible beneath the abundance of flowers, giving the composition structure without disturbing its lightness.
What I particularly like about this painting is the transition from the cooler grey tones below to the clear sky blue above. It gives the impression that the flowering tree is reaching towards the light. The result is peaceful and uplifting rather than overly decorative.
With its generous 100 × 70 cm format, Blue Blossom Light has a strong presence while its restrained palette makes it easy to combine with contemporary interiors. The dark frame creates a beautiful contrast with the luminous colours and completes the artwork elegantly.
