I wanted this painting to capture that brief, spectacular moment in spring when a blossom tree seems almost too full of colour – as though nature has suddenly burst into celebration. The composition extends beyond the edges of the canvas, giving the impression that the flowering branches continue far beyond what we can see.
Despite its abundance, Blossom Explosion retains an elegant balance. The cool grey background allows the rich reds and luminous pinks to become the focus, while small details and subtle contrasts invite the eye to wander through the painting.
