Quiet Tension is an original abstract painting by Edelgard Schroer that explores depth through layered structure and restrained contrast. Created on a 120 cm × 80 cm canvas with a 4 cm gallery profile, the composition unfolds in petrol and teal tones, balanced by soft grey transitions and fine gold threads embedded within the textured surface.
Multiple applications of acrylic and structure medium build a tactile relief that gives the surface a quiet density. The dark passages are grounded rather than heavy, allowing the integrated gold lines to introduce subtle movement and light. The metallic elements are woven into the structure itself, catching illumination gently as the perspective shifts.
The substantial 4 cm depth enhances the sculptural presence of the work and allows it to be displayed unframed with painted edges.
