A dark, expressive trunk rises through the composition and opens into a wide canopy filled with hundreds of individually painted marks in warm gold, cream and white. I created the tree through many small, spontaneous brushstrokes, allowing the crown to develop gradually across the canvas. Some blossoms are clearly defined, while others remain loose and translucent, giving the painting depth and a gentle sense of movement. The strong black branches provide contrast and structure without taking away from the lightness of the canopy.
For me, Golden Tree carries a feeling of abundance, warmth and quiet optimism. Its restrained palette gives the artwork an elegant contemporary character, while the golden tones change subtly with the surrounding light.
